East Wind – Massage/Bodywork

Welcome to Four Winds Massage

My Philosophy

I believe in the profound healing power of touch to facilitate body, mind/emotion and spirit. I value and respect the client/practitioner relationship. Together, we can create and maintain a safe, productive therapeutic relationship which supports the amazing process of healing and expanding awareness. I appreciate the opportunity to help people achieve their wellness goals by providing effective, attentive, curious, supportive, challenging and nurturing touch.

My specialization is in treatment of chronic and acute pain, challenging and difficult to resolve conditions, injury rehab, body/mind/emotion/spirit trauma, physical manifestations of PTSD and so much more.

I will work with your body to revitalize health and advance body awareness.   This work expands client awareness and understanding of their body, noticing it’s interconnectedness to mind and spirit. My work is deep and profound, subtle and impactful.  The work is gentle, earnest, attentive and pain free.  My intention is to facilitate both deep relaxation and significant change. My practice is in the Greenlake area of Seattle, Washington.

I incorporate an eclectic blend of various techniques.   My massage/bodywork skills span a wide spectrum of approaches from energetic and wellness to clinical, medical and structural massage/bodywork.   My primary techniques include fascial work, visceral and neural manipulation, structural decompression, intraoral and cranio-sacral approaches.

All approaches involve using touch to link the nervous system/sensory awareness and soft/firm tissue structures facilitating the bodies inherent self-regulating abilities.

In general, what to expect from your session

For your initial session with me, please print up, fill out and bring in the Health history and Privacy forms (click here to access) to optimize session time. Please arrive no more than ten minutes early, as I do not have a waiting area. Upon arrival we will go over your history, assess current concerns and discuss expectations, goals and intentions for your session(s) and come to agreement on a session plan.

You will be draped in accordance with professional standards. Following discussion and agreement adaptations may be made to ensure comfort, warmth and modesty. You are welcome to remain clothed as I can easily adapt to working through clothing only in areas where consent to work is granted. I adhere to standard universal precautions including washing hands before and after the session, use of hand sanitizer as needed within a session and use of gloves when warranted.

A session will typically last 1 hour – 1 1/2 hour and will consist of three parts – an initial evaluation, a dialogue about your history and symptoms, then treatment. Treatment will very based on assessment findings, signs and symptoms and intended outcomes. Normally I recommend 1-3 weeks between the initial and second session so that we may gauge the thresholds of your body and to allow time for your body to assimilate the treatment effects.

Emotions are a normal part of being human. Your body is a container for everything you’ve experienced in your life. Sometimes during massage emotions arise. It’s not uncommon for clients to not only feel but also express emotions (including crying, laughing, raging and more); these are invited, welcomed and honored. Sometimes these emotions are connected to old memories or experiences and many times these emotions seem not connected to anything logical or perceived to be related to current experiences. Please be assured that your body will only release what it’s ready to release. I will simply witness and hold space for your process. If you wish to stop or alter what we are doing simply say so as your comfort and safety are paramount. My goal is to create a safe space where healing (body, mind and spirit) can occur at a time and pace determined by you.

After an emotional release, a client commonly experiences a sense of relief and renewed energy. Occasionally a client will seek out emotional support with a counselor to continue the processing the emotion with a mental health professional.
