Welcome to Dawn M. Schmidt, LMT, Four Winds Massage
My Philosophy
I believe in the profound healing power of touch to facilitate body, mind/emotion and spirit. I value and respect the client/practitioner relationship. Creating and maintaining a safe productive therapeutic relationship supports the amazing process of healing and expanding awareness. I appreciate the opportunity to provide effective, attentive, curious, supportive, challenging and nurturing touch, helping clients achieve their therapeutic and wellness goals and intentions.
My work is gentle, firm, relaxing, deep and profound. My goal is to reduce pain and dysfunction through non painful and non forceful work. My intention is to facilitate both deep relaxation and profound change. I have a private practice in the Greenlake area of Seattle, Washington.
I incorporate an eclectic blend of techniques. My massage/bodywork skills span a wide spectrum of approaches from energetic and wellness to clinical medical oriented work. The primary techniques include neuro-myofascial, visceral and neural manipulation, intraoral and cranio-sacral approaches. My specialization is in treatment of chronic pain, challenging conditions, injury rehab, body/mind/spirit trauma and physical manifestations of PTSD and so much more

COVID Specific Expectations

In General What To Expect from your session
For your initial session with me, please print up, fill out and bring in the Health history and Privacy forms (click here to access) and the COVID Specific Form to optimize session time. Please arrive no more than ten minutes early, as I do not have a waiting area. Upon arrival we will check your signs of health (taking temperature and checking your SPO2/Heart Rate), go over your history, assess current concerns and discuss expectations, goals and intentions for your session(s) and come to agreement on a session plan.
You will be draped in accordance with professional standards. Following discussion and agreement adaptations may be made to ensure comfort, warmth and modesty. You are welcome to remain clothed as I can easily adapt to working through clothing. I will work only in areas where consent to work is granted. I adhere to standard universal precautions including washing hands and hand sanitizing before and after the session. I use hand sanitizer as needed within a session and use of gloves when warranted. I wear N95 medical respirator mask throughout our time together for our mutual protection.
A session will typically last 1 hour – 1 1/2 hour and will consist of an initial evaluation and dialogue about your history and symptoms, determination of treatment plan and consent to treat. Treatment will very based on assessment findings, signs and symptoms and intended outcomes. Normally I recommend 1-3 weeks between the initial and second session so that we may gauge the thresholds of your body and to allow time for your body to assimilate the treatment effects.
Emotions are a normal part of being human. Your body is a container for everything you’ve experienced in your life. Sometimes during massage emotions arise. It’s not uncommon for clients to not only feel but also express emotions (including crying, laughing, raging and more); these are invited, welcomed and honored. Some emotions may be connected to memories or experiences and many they may also have no connection to anything logical or perceived to be related to current experiences. You will only release what’s ready for release. I will simply witness and hold space for your process. If you wish to stop or alter what we are doing simply say so, as your comfort and safety are paramount. My goal is to create a safe space where healing (body, mind and spirit) can occur at a time and pace determined by you.
After an emotional release, client’s commonly experience a sense of relief and renewed energy. Client’s are encouraged to seek emotional support after such releases which may include continue the processing of emotion with a mental health professional.
“What gets revealed gets healed”.
